Brooklyn, New York, April 29, 2026 — Brooklyn FC Women travel to Florida this weekend for a decisive matchup against league leaders Sporting JAX on Sunday, May 3 at 5:00 PM ET at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville.

Sporting JAX enters the contest atop the league table with 47 points and an explosive attack averaging two goals per match.

Their offensive strength is highlighted by a trio of top scorers dominating the league leaderboard: 19-year-old midfielder Ashlyn Puerta (12 goals), forward Paige Kenton (10 goals), and Baylee DeSmit (9 goals).

In addition to their scoring prowess, Sporting JAX also leads the league in playmaking, with Puerta, Kenton, and midfielder Meg Hughes tied for the top spot in assists.

Brooklyn FC will look to counter with its own creative force in midfield. Sam Kroeger has been one of the league’s premier playmakers, currently tied for first in assists alongside three Sporting JAX players. Tengarrinha‘s View

It was a very strong match tonight. What were your initial thoughts going into the game, and what did you emphasize leading up to it?

“Try to do pretty much the same as we have been doing, mostly against Dallas. I think we did such a good job last game against them. I think the game was pretty much the same. Like in the last one, we scored first. We could score more than just one goal. We had a lot of chances. They had a couple too. I feel like we didn’t deserve the tie. These girls deserve to win. So yeah, the game plan was there. They did an amazing job.”

How important has Samantha Rosette’s contribution been, not just on the field, but to the culture you and your staff are building? What does she mean to you as a coach?

“Samantha is a huge example. Probably she is the best captain that I ever had. She’s an example on and off the pitch. She’s a true leader. She always has something good to say in difficult moments, because in the good moments, everybody is good, but in the difficult moments, she is always there, and she’s an example. That’s why people were outside giving her the applause that she deserved. The only thing that I can complain about tonight is not giving her the win that she deserved.

What were the emotions at halftime, knowing this was Sam’s final home game?

“I think the mindset and the spirit was to give her the right goodbye, give the win for her and give her a little present, because she deserved that. So yes, we are all together for her.”

Now that the game is over, what is your immediate focus heading into the next training session and match?

“We are still alive. We know that there is a game tomorrow that, if it wins, I think we are out. We need to keep doing our job. There is a game that we need to win, or try to win away. The weather is probably going to be a little bit better. So yeah, let’s prepare for the next game with the right mindset, right energy, and get ready.”

Sam Rosette’s Career Reflection

What were your thoughts this morning as you prepared for your final home game?

“That is a hard question. I think it was just thoughts of gratitude. This has been such an incredible journey, and I am so lucky to just be able to play the sport that I love. I got to do that at home in front of so many people that love me and who I love, and who have really given me a shoulder to lean on throughout my life and my career. So I was just thinking about them and wanting to get a win at home.”

Thinking back to the club’s inception, what made you want to be part of building this team in Brooklyn?

“I think it goes back to just being a kid. I grew up in the city, and I didn’t have a team that I could go watch, that I could take the subway to go see, and that is different now. That was going to be the case for this team, and I knew that I had to be a part of that legacy. I feel so lucky to have been able to do that.”

What advice or message would you like to leave behind for future captains?

“I think less of what to remember me by, but more of just what to remember what playing for New York means. I think it’s a tale of resilience. It’s about continuing to fight, continuing to push, and giving your hardest, giving 110% for your goals and your dreams. I hope that’s a legacy that people continue on.”

What did it feel like playing here night after night and calling this place home?

“It felt really special. I have memories of going to Coney Island as a kid with my brother and my parents, and now getting to play here, it’s very full circle. I’m just very grateful.”

Having your family and loved ones here for your final game, what does that mean to you?

“It’s everything. They’re everything to me. I’m so lucky to have so many people that care about me and that I have in my corner. I burst into tears on the field looking at them tonight, so it was pretty amazing.”

Brooklyn, New York, April 25, 2026 – Brooklyn FC Women were forced to settle for a point after a late equalizer saw Dallas Trinity earn a 1–1 draw.

Brooklyn controlled large stretches of the match and created the better chances throughout the first half, with forwards Catherine Zimmerman and Rebecca Cooke both testing the Dallas goalkeeper Tyler McCamey, while Brooklyn goalkeeper Kelsey Daugherty came up with key saves to keep the match scoreless heading into the break.

The breakthrough finally came in the 79th minute. midfielder Jessica Garziano found midfielder Rylan Childers in space outside the box, and Childers struck a composed left-footed effort into the bottom right corner to give Brooklyn a deserved 1–0 lead.

Brooklyn looked set to see out the result, remaining organized defensively and limiting Dallas to few clear chances.

However, in the 90th minute, Dallas found a late equalizer as forward Allie Thornton delivered a pass into the box for forward Camryn Lancaster, who finished with a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner to level the match at 1–1.

Despite the late setback, Brooklyn delivered a strong overall performance, controlling possession and creating multiple opportunities while showing defensive resilience for much of the match.

Bronx native and the Club’s first-ever Captain to play her final home match on April 25 before finishing the season on the road

Brooklyn, N.Y., April 23, 2026 – Brooklyn FC today announced that defender Samantha Rosette will retire from professional soccer at the conclusion of the 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League season.

A founding member of BKFC’s inaugural 2024/25 squad, Rosette played a pivotal role in establishing the club during its first two seasons. The team will honor her career and contributions at its final home match on Saturday, April 25.

A native of the Bronx, Rosette returned home to help build Brooklyn FC after spending much of her professional career abroad, with stops in Kazakhstan, Lithuania, and France.

“We can’t thank Sam enough for everything she’s brought to this club, both on and off the pitch, over the past two years,” said Kevin Tenjo, Sporting Director of BKFC. “Her professionalism, leadership, and international experience have been invaluable, especially for our younger players. She’s left a lasting mark on this team, and we wish her nothing but the best in her next chapter.”

Coming into Saturday’s fixture vs. Dallas Trinity FC, Rosette has appeared in 25 matches across her two seasons with Brooklyn FC, totaling 857 minutes played with 10 starts. From the back line, she has recorded 11 tackles won, 19 clearances, 10 interceptions, and two blocks, while also completing 197 passes. She also contributed one goal this season and has been a steady presence in the squad throughout the club’s first two campaigns.

Before her time at Brooklyn FC, Rosette built a global professional career following her collegiate years at the University of Virginia and Villanova. She began her pro journey with NJ/NY Gotham FC’s reserve side before gaining international experience across Europe and Asia, including stints with BIIK Kazygurt, FC Gintra, and RC Strasbourg Alsace, competing in domestic leagues and UEFA Women’s Champions League play along the way.

“Being a part of Brooklyn FC from the beginning and helping to build a legacy of women’s football here in NYC, my home, has been such a gift and something I dreamt of as a little girl,” said Rosette. “On top of that, serving as a captain and getting to lead this team for the last two years has been the greatest honor and an experience I will treasure for the rest of my life. I am so lucky to have had the chance to finish my career at home, in front of my family, friends, and community. I know how rare and special this is, and I’m so grateful to have gotten to experience this.”

Throughout the entirety of her professional career across all competitions, Rosette has tallied a total of 71 pro matches played, 21 goals scored, and 18 assists. She has participated in two UEFA Champions League campaigns with both BIIK and Gintra, won the Lithuanian A Lyga and Baltic Cup with Gintra, won the French 2nd Division and achieved promotion to D1 Arkema with RCSA, and participated in two Gainbridge Super League campaigns with Brooklyn FC.

“Samantha Rosette is the example of a captain every team should have,” said BKFC Women’s Head Coach Tomás Tengarrinha. “Her commitment to the team, her work ethic, her heart, and the way she fights for the group are some of the characteristics that I truly admire. It has been an honour to work side by side with her as captain, knowing the fundamental contribution she has given the team, not only this year but also in Brooklyn FC’s debut season.”

Beyond what she provided to BKFC, in her spare time, Rosette has co-founded The Players Network (TPN). The organization was created by and for players to provide community and tap into their collective power to help advocate for themselves and advance their careers.

Just 9 days ago, BKFC delivered a statement performance at home against the same opponent, cruising to a 3–0 victory. Forward Rebecca Cooke led the charge with a brace, while Kelsey Hill added another. That result didn’t just earn three points, it kept Brooklyn in the hunt for a top-four playoff spot.

Brooklyn enters the match in strong form. Veteran winger Chioma Ubogagu, at 33, remains a constant threat with her pace and experience, tallying four assists and a goal so far.
