Lexington, SC. (August 15th, 2026) – Brooklyn FC Women lost 3-0 against the defending Gainbridge Super League champions Lexington SC in the 2026 season opener.
The first half was controlled by Lexington, who had six shots and forced two saves from the Brooklyn goalkeeper and newly named captain, Bre Norris. Lexington had their best chance in the 35th minute when a ball fell to forward Catherine Barry at the top of the box. Barry, last year’s top scorer, controlled the box but shot it directly at Norris.
Brooklyn pressed well throughout the half and attempted to counter-attack when they recovered possession. Their best chance came in stoppage time of the first half from forward Ashlyn Miller. A long ball up top was well-controlled by forward Carlee Giammona who laid it off to Miller whose shot went over the bar.
In the second half, Lexington scored two goals in quick succession. The first came in the 58th minute from Catherine Barry who scored a rebound after Addie McCain’s initial shot hit the crossbar. The second came three minutes later from McCain. A long ball found her running in behind and she calmly slotted past Norris.
The third goal came in the 82nd minute to seal the game from forward Hannah White. Brooklyn had a few shots in the last few minutes to apply some pressure but could not find a breakthrough.
