Hartford, C.T. (October 17, 2026) – Brooklyn FC Men fell behind twice against Hartford Athletic, but remained resilient to earn a 3-2 win, despite receiving a red card in the second half.
Hartford dominated much of the first half, and Brooklyn goalkeeper Jackson Lee made four saves to keep the score at 1-0.
In the sixth minute, a Hartford forward closed down on Brooklyn’s goal, but Lee stood firm and made himself big, making a save as the forward tried to round him. Hartford were then unable to convert the rebound and the play ended in a goal kick. Lee made another double save in the 18th minute, with his second save coming while he was still laying on the ground.
Hartford’s attacking pressure found its reward in the 21st minute, following a Brooklyn giveaway in midfield. The Hartford midfielder then played a through ball that found forward Michael Adedokun who unleashed a powerful shot into the bottom corner.
Brooklyn found their equalizer in the 55th minute, as midfielder Anthony Fontana sent a free kick into the box. The Hartford defenders were unable to clear, and Brooklyn forward Abdoulaye Kanté was able to take advantage of the chaos, toe-poking the ball off the crossbar and into the net.
However, Hartford regained the lead just two minutes later. A cross from the left wing found the head of forward Sadat Anaku who scored.
Brooklyn refused to give up, and leveled the score again in the 63rd minute. Midfielder CJ Olney Jr. dribbled down the left wing and crossed the ball to midfielder Johnny Klein who was making a late run. Klein controlled the ball with his first touch and volleyed the ball into the back of the net with his second touch.
Brooklyn were reduced to 10 men in the 73rd minute, as Fontana was shown his second yellow card of the match, after he got his first warning in the 43rd minute.
Despite the red card, Brooklyn kept fighting and found a winner in the 79th minute. Midfielder Jaden Servania, making his first appearance after returning from international duty, crossed a ball deep from the right wing. He found Olney making a run in behind from the left wing who clinically finished with his first touch to win the game.
Hartford pushed hard in the final minutes of the game, with their biggest chance coming in the 97th minute. However, Brooklyn held on for the win, becoming just the second team to beat Hartford at home in the USL Championship this season.
