Brooklyn, NY. (August 26th, 2026) – Brooklyn FC Men play their second game in a row at home this weekend as Sporting Club Jacksonville visit Maimonides Park for the first time. The match takes place on August 29 at 7 PM ET, streaming on ESPN+.
Brooklyn FC’s last match was a heartbreaking 1-0 loss against the reigning USL Championship winning Pittsburgh Riverhounds, with the sole goal being a direct free-kick in the 83rd minute. Brooklyn will be hoping to bounce back with a win at home against the team at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, Sporting JAX. The two teams have already met twice this season, both games being held in Florida and both games ending in a 2-2 draw. Both matches featured a team winning 2-0, before conceding twice to force a draw.
Sporting JAX have had a difficult inaugural season, with the fewest number of points in the USL Championship. However, they are coming off of their second victory of the season, an impressive 3-2 win away at Birmingham Legion. Scottish defender Danny Wilson scored a winner in the 90+11th minute to give JAX their first ever away win. Offense has not been too much of an issue for Jacksonville, with midfielder Kieran Sadlier scoring eight goals this term. Finnish forward Emil Jääskeläinen has also scored six goals this season and found the back of the net in the last match against Brooklyn. Defense has been the biggest problem for the team, as they have conceded 54 goals this year, 14 more than the next highest team.
Brooklyn FC need to get points on the board after four defeats in a row. The team has put in multiple strong performances this season, but has often failed to find results. After the 1-0 loss against Pittsburgh, Brooklyn head coach Marlon LeBlanc said “I thought we played well for long stretches. Football’s fine margins, and it took a well-struck free kick from Bassett to be the big difference”. Forward JC Obregón made his 100th career appearance in the USL Championship last week and will be hoping to return to the scoresheet after recording three goals and two assists in the league this year. The midfield was also much better against Pittsburgh as the team controlled much of the ball, over 56% of possession. Midfielders Tommy McNamara and CJ Olney Jr will be instrumental in creating chances against Jacksonville, the team who averages the second-fewest amount of possession in the league
On Saturday, Brooklyn FC are playing the first match of three in a row against Florida teams. Next week, they will head south to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies on September 5 at 7:30 PM ET. They will return home on September 12 to take on Miami FC. Tickets are available on SeatGeek.
