Tomás Tengarrinha, Head Coach
In what positive ways do you think the culture of Brooklyn FC Women has grown throughout this season?
“I don’t think this last game truly reflects what this season was or what these players produced on the field throughout the year. We were competitive in every match and fought almost until the very end for a playoff spot. What really defines this group is its resilience, fighting spirit, and refusal to give up. In those aspects, this team never compromised. The culture we built was based on commitment, togetherness, and belief, and I think the players showed that consistently throughout the season.”
Sam Kroeger is leading the league with 7 assists. How does having a player like her elevate the team’s performance throughout the season?
“Sam was a very important player for us. She played the majority of the games and was a key piece in our structure throughout the season. But at the same time, her success is also a reflection of the collective work around her. Every teammate contributed to creating the conditions for her to perform at that level. More than highlighting individuals, what I’m most proud of is the group, the unity, and the spirit we were able to develop throughout the season.”

You finished the season leading the league in assists with seven. What does that accomplishment mean to you personally, especially in a league as competitive as this League?
“I think it speaks a lot. I’m thankful for my teammates who were able to get on the end of my crosses/set pieces and it’s a testament to this whole group how we’ll fight until the end. Being in this league has grown immensely from the first year and both back lines and front lines are constantly evolving and getting better, so I’m proud to have 7 assists this year at Brooklyn.”
Brooklyn FC went through a lot together during its first two seasons. What growth did you see from the team over the course that maybe people on the outside wouldn’t fully notice?
Having challenges is always a part of the journey and process being a professional athlete. I think we’ve grown a ton as a group both this year and last year collectively and individually. The continual growth and push for the club and league standards has been something that has been inspiring to see and be a part of that most people don’t get to see from the outside.
