
BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Brooklyn Football Club announced today the signing of defender Laila Booker, pending league and federation approval.
Ivy League and SEC standout: Booker arrives in Brooklyn following an accomplished and decorated collegiate career.
- Yale: Booker anchored the Bulldogs’ backline for three seasons earning national and league accolades, including First Team All Ivy League (2022), Second Team All Ivy League (2023, 2024), and United Soccer Coaches All-East Region Third Team (2024).
- Georgia: Finished her college career in Athens, starting 13 matches and helping lock down opposing attacks to the tune of eight shutouts.
A commanding presence: Known for her combination of aerial dominance and composure on the ball, the 5’11” Booker will be looked upon to solidify the defense and initiate attacks out of the back.
- Head Coach Alex Smith: “Laila brings a combination of physical presence and competitiveness that will serve the team well this season. She is a natural leader on the pitch. We are thrilled to welcome her to Brooklyn as we build a defensive unit capable of shutting down the top attackers in the league every week.”
The Brooklyn FC Women kick off the 2026 Gainbridge Super League Fall Season on August 15 at Lexington SC. The home opener is Friday, August 21, against DC Power FC. Kick off is at 7:30 PM.
