Former NWSL draft pick brings professional experience from Denmark to Brooklyn FC

Brooklyn, N.Y., Mar. 17, 2026 – Brooklyn Football Club (Brooklyn FC) women today announced that it has signed midfielder Rylan Childers, pending league and federation approval.

Childers, 25, is a midfielder from Grain Valley, Missouri, who joins Brooklyn FC after most recently playing for Odense Boldklub Q in Denmark. She appeared in 33 matches across all competitions for the club, scoring four goals and helping OB Q earn promotion before going on to feature in every available match during the 2024–25 Danish Women’s League season.

“Rylan is a player who understands the demands of the game and brings real competitiveness to midfield,” said Head Coach Tomás Tengarrinha. “She has valuable professional experience, works hard for the team, and has shown she can contribute in different moments of the game. We are excited to welcome her to Brooklyn and to see how she grows within our group.”

Childers began her professional career after being selected by the Kansas City Current in the fourth round of the 2023 NWSL Draft, making 10 appearances across the NWSL regular season and Challenge Cup competitions.

At the collegiate level, she starred at the University of Missouri–Kansas City and the University of Kansas, scoring 35 combined goals and serving as a team captain for the Jayhawks while earning Academic All-Big 12 honors.

Brooklyn FC women are back in action on Saturday, March 14, at 9:00 p.m. ET against Spokane Zephyr FC before traveling to Tampa Bay Sun FC on Wednesday, March 18, at 7:30 p.m. ET. What adjustments did you look to make at the break, and how did you feel the team responded in the second half:
“At halftime we tried to reorganize a few things, mainly to give the team a bit more balance and composure with the ball, and to be more aggressive in our pressing moments. I felt the reaction was better in terms of attitude and intensity, but overall it wasn’t our day. We never really managed to impose our game the way we normally do, and in matches like this you end up paying the price.”

What will be the main focus for the group in training this week as you prepare for the next match:
“The focus now is very clear: recover, analyze the game honestly, and prepare for Wednesday. When you lose like this the most important thing is the reaction. We have another match very soon, so the group needs to reset mentally, correct some of the things that didn’t go well today, and refocus on what we want to do as a team. Soccer moves quickly and our attention now is fully on the next game.”

Spokane, Washington, March 14, 2026 – Brooklyn Football Club (Brooklyn FC) women fell 3–0 to Spokane Zephyr on the road. Spokane opened the scoring in the 36th minute when defender Reese Tappan headed home from a corner. The hosts doubled their lead in the 41st minute as winger Tori Waldeck finished a fast-break opportunity into the bottom corner, sending Spokane into halftime with a 2–0 advantage. Brooklyn created chances in the first half, including a long-range effort from midfielder Kristina Markovic that struck the crossbar.

Brooklyn pushed forward in the second half searching for a response, but Spokane extended its lead in the 61st minute when winger Ginger Fontenot finished from close range following a set piece. Brooklyn, New York, March 7, 2026 – Brooklyn Football Club (Brooklyn FC) women fell 0–2 to DC Power at Maimonides Park on Saturday afternoon. DC opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when forward Alyssa Walker converted from the penalty spot after a foul inside the box. Brooklyn responded with several attacking moments before halftime, including a long-range effort from midfielder Samantha Kroeger that forced a save and a free kick opportunity won by forward Catherine Zimmerman in the attacking half.

Brooklyn pushed for an equalizer early in the second half and generated multiple chances, with Zimmerman and midfielder Emma Loving both forcing saves from DC goalkeeper Sara Wojdelko. However, DC doubled their advantage in the 63rd minute when forward Loza Abera struck a low shot from outside the box that found the bottom corner. Brooklyn, N.Y., Mar. 3, 2026 – Brooklyn Football Club (Brooklyn FC) women’s midfielder Sam Kroeger has been named to the Gainbridge Super League Team of the Month (TOTM) bench for February, while midfielder Mylena Freitas earned a Goal of the Month nomination.

Kroeger made her impact felt at both ends of the pitch across Brooklyn’s February slate. She helped Brooklyn stay organized defensively against Dallas Trinity FC, finishing with three tackles, five clearances and two interceptions. She then delivered the moment that swung Brooklyn’s 2–1 win over Fort Lauderdale United FC, setting up both goals with two assists and three chances created while also adding three interceptions and two clearances to close out the result.

Freitas earned her nomination for a thrilling right-footed finish from the right side of the box into the top right corner against Fort Lauderdale. Assisted by Catherine Zimmerman’s cross, the strike put Brooklyn in front and stands among four league-wide nominees for February Goal of the Month honors.
