Brooklyn, you ready for a fiesta?
On Saturday, September 19, the Brooklyn FC Men host FC Tulsa for our annual Noche Latina in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month!
Noche Latina is designed to honor the vibrant Latino culture that makes our borough so unique, serving as a core pillar of Brooklyn FC’s community mission. We’ve got an evening full of culturally themed in-stadium activations, incredible musical performances, and special events to connect the club with the Hispanic community across the borough.
Fans are encouraged to wear their colors, celebrate their roots, and bring the energy!
It all starts before you even get inside the stadium. In front of the gates, stop by the lemonade cart hosted by Ix, the renowned Guatemalan restaurant in Prospect-Lefferts Garden known for its authentic culinary heritage and atmosphere.
From there, it’s a full on fiesta:
Fútbol Culture FIRST
The energy will be electric before the whistle even blows. Argentine fútbol fan group Los Pibes de NY will join our very own supporters group, The Brooklyn FC Warriors, for a march to the match that sets the high-energy tone for the night.
Once inside, check out a pop-up from Classic Football Shirts, who will have racks of vintage and classic jerseys from Latin American clubs and national teams.
BACHATA PERFORMANCE
To cap off the pregame excitement, the Elohim Dance Company put on a bachata and hip-hop performance.
- Bachata is a traditional dance style originating Dominican Republic, with influences from bolero, son, and other Caribbean rhythms. Elohim’s dance team is composed of dancers from all backgrounds, abilities, and experience levels, and the performance will set the stage for kickoff.
A SPECIAL NATIONAL ANTHEM
The Star-Spangled Banner will be performed by Diana López, a Honduran-American tango singer in the New York City scene. López’s career spans the world, including acting as a soloist for a production of Songs of Piazzolla at the Sheen Center, as well as a European tour with the Latin American folk choir Capella Sur.
Special Guest: Antonio Reynoso
We are honored to welcome Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso as our Special Guest for Noche Latina. The son of two Dominican immigrants, Reynoso was born and raised in the Los Sures neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
- In 2021, he became the youngest Borough President elected to a four-year term, the first Latino to hold the office in the borough, and the first Dominican to be elected as a Borough President in NYC.
DANCING AT HALFTIME
Don’t leave your seats at halftime because we’ve got something special on tap: a performance by the Ayazamana Dance Group. Based out of the Ecuadorian American Cultural Center and founded by Jose Rivera in 1992, the troupe’s goal is to give the community greater access to Ecuadorian culture through the art of dance.
- Composed of approximately 30 dancers, Ayazamana’s performance will showcase the rich diversity of Ecuador, with choreography rooted in community celebrations like the Danzantes of Pujili, Inti Raymi in Cayambe, and Bomba from the Chota Valley.
A PIñATA for los Niños
Noche Latina is a celebration for all ages. Our Kids Zone will feature a piñata for young ones to whack until the candies fall. Other fun family-friendly activities include:
- Bracelet and sign-making stations
- Flags to wave in the stands
- Face-painting
