Tampa Bay, F.L. (September 5, 2026) – Brooklyn FC Men fell 2-0 to the league-leading Tampa Bay Rowdies 1-0. The team was shorthanded this week and could not compete with the Eastern Conference leaders.
Tampa got their opening goal in the 24th minute after some strong determination from their attacking players. The Brooklyn defense was unable to clear the ball in the box from the pressing Rowdies and it fell to midfielder Louis Perez. He unleashed a powerful left-footed strike from the edge of the box for the first goal of the match.
Brooklyn came alive towards the end of the first half, with the closest chance coming in the 44th minute. Forward JC Obregón curled a free kick over the Tampa wall forcing a big save from their goalkeeper. The team had another chance from a set piece in first half stoppage time as a deep cross from midfielder CJ Olney Jr found a Brooklyn head but the shot was not strong enough to beat the goalkeeper.
Tampa Bay continued attacking throughout the second half and Brooklyn goalkeeper Jackson Lee made several big saves, one in the 75th minute and then again in the 89th minute.
Despite Lee’s efforts, the Rowdies found their second goal in the 90+2nd minute to seal the game for Tampa Bay, beating Brooklyn 2-0.
