Brooklyn, N.Y. (September 1, 2026) – Brooklyn FC midfielder Peter Mangione was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for Week 26 and midfielder CJ Olney Jr. earned a spot on the Team of the Week bench following statement performances in a 4-1 win against Sporting Jacksonville.
Mangione led the scoring with a brace coming in the first half after he also scored a goal at JAX earlier in the season. His first goal came just eight minutes into the game following a cut back from Markus Anderson and side footing the ball into the back of the net. In the 27th minute, Brooklyn doubled their lead as Olney chipped a cross to the back post that found Mangione for his second goal of the game.
After assisting Mangione’s second goal and helping create Brooklyn’s third goal for Markus Anderson, Olney decided to get involved with the scoring himself, adding the fourth goal for Brooklyn in the 77th minute of the match. He was sent through one-on-one with the goalkeeper, with his initial shot being saved, but stayed composed to get his rebound and slide the ball into the net past a defender on the line. This is Olney’s second Team of the Week appearance, after also being named to the bench back during week 14/15.
Brooklyn play their next match on the road on September 5 at 7:30 PM ET, against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. They will then return home to Maimonides Park on September 12 to face Miami FC. Multiple home match ticketing options, including multi-game and single-game, are available. Tickets are available on SeatGeek.
