Las Vegas, NV. (August 16th, 2026) – Brooklyn FC Men lost 2-1 to the Las Vegas Lights on the road after conceding a late winner in the 87th minute.
Brooklyn took an early lead in the 4th minute after some defensive pressure from midfielder CJ Olney Jr won the ball back in the final third. A smart pass then found forward JC Obregon Jr who was able to find the back of the net as two defenders on the line attempted to block his shot. The Brooklyn attack created a few more chances in the early stages of the first half but could not find a second goal. After the 25th minute, Las Vegas began to pile on the pressure but the Brooklyn defense held firm until halftime.
Las Vegas came out of halftime with plenty of attacking intent, and the Brooklyn goalkeeper Lukas Burns came up with multiple important saves. In the 68th minute, the Lights finally found their breakthrough through forward Oalex Anderson. A deep cross into the Brooklyn box was headed back across goal by Vegas forward Manuel Arteaga and Anderson was able to tap into an empty net.
The pressure from Vegas continued but Brooklyn had a big chance in the 82nd minute against the run of play. Jaden Servania took a shot from the edge of the box which curled past the keeper but hit the crossbar.
Five minutes later, Las Vegas found the winner through a deflected shot. Forward Johnny Rodriguez lashed out at a ball at the edge of the box which bounced off a Brooklyn defender and found the back of the net.
