Marlon LeBlanc’s View
What do you take away from a performance like this, and how do you assess the team’s overall display?
“I think I should be really congratulatory of the way our team played. The result wasn’t what we wanted, and this is a game about results, but that’s the type of performance that I think in the long run will pay off for us. Look we we set ourselves about being better against the ball. I thought in the first 45 minutes, outside of two breakdown moments, we were really good against the ball. And then this week, we prepped on on breaking and playing through opponents and their press, and there was a lot of really good football and a lot of really good moments. We created a lot of chances, if not for a better final pass or a better final action. We score one more goal tonight, but I can’t fault the performance. The performance itself was outstanding. And I haven’t had a chance to address my team yet, but I will certainly let them know that as soon as I do”
What gives you confidence that this team is heading in the right direction?
“I don’t know if I’ve ever been a part of a game where it just felt like you were in complete control and lost the game? It’s, it’s, it’s one of those things where it’s hard to be disappointed outside of the result. It feels a little bit more like they stole three points tonight. But I’ve got to be honest, like I don’t feel bad about what we did and how we approached it, and the way we played. I think we can be better 100% and that’s kind of scary to feel that way, still, that we could still be better.”

Match Reactions
Juan Carlos Obregón Jr., forward, #29
How do you evaluate the team’s response, especially coming out strong in the second half?
“Yeah, I think it was a good response by us at halftime. I thought we played fairly decent the first half, but we were, you know, gave up a couple of chances, and they took their chances. But I think it was good to have the response that we had in the second half, to come back and to score the goal, you know, within the first 10, 15, minutes of the second half, and really kind of put them under pressure. And it was a good response by the group, but ultimately we fell short in terms of absorbing pressure, you know, playing balls when balls needed to be played, and really taking advantage of space.”
What does it mean to represent Brooklyn and help build this club from the ground up?
“Yeah, it’s definitely, you know, very prideful thing, you know, to represent and set the foundation for this club. And we take that with great responsibility. And, you know, just like Tommy said, is we’re taking it day by day, because we’re here to build something, you know, for the long run.”

Tommy McNamara, midfielder, #7
What did you see from the team in terms of exploiting Hartford’s shape and creating chances?
“I thought we expose their shape. You know, very well, throughout the game, we found spaces to create overloads. And we were having success in playing in their half, and unfortunately, we couldn’t finish the comeback.”
How do you view the team’s progress and potential this early in the season?
“I think it’s still early days. We’re still trying to figure out the whole group together, collectively and, you know, but we’ve shown that we can win games in this league by winning the first game of the season. We show that we can be competitive against a team like Hartford, who was, I believe, a playoff team last year, and they won the USL Jagermeister Cup.”
