Brooklyn, N.Y. (October 20, 2026) – Brooklyn FC midfielder CJ Olney Jr. earned a spot on the USL Championship Team of the Week bench for Week 33 following his performance in a 3-2 win against Hartford Athletic last weekend, where he notched a goal and an assist.
Olney helped spark the comeback for Brooklyn against Hartford, as the team fell behind twice in the match. For the team’s second goal in the 63rd minute, Olney made a run down the left wing, while holding off a defender from behind, and crossed the ball with his left foot to find teammate Johnny Klein who scored with a volley from outside of the box. This was Olney’s eighth assist of the season, tied for fifth most in the league. After the team went down to 10 men, the team continued fighting and Olney was able to score the winning goal in the 79th minute. A cross from the right wing found him running in behind the Hartford defence, and Olney was able to finish with his first touch, his fourth goal of the season. Olney has been named to the Team of the Week bench three times this season, with the previous two coming in Week 14/15 and Week 26, as well as leading the team with 12 goal involvements this year.
