
Brooklyn, N.Y. (September 10, 2026) — Brooklyn FC Men announced today the signing of midfielder Anthony Fontana, boosting the squad’s ranks with Major League Soccer experience and proven creativity.
Fontana will be available for this weekend’s match at home against Miami FC, pending league and federation approval.
MLS Background:
- Fontana, a native of Newark, Delaware, grew up as part of the Philadelphia Union academy, making his debut with the MLS squad at the age of 18. He competed in the USL Championship as a member of the Bethlehem Steel, the Union’s second team at the time.
- He was a part of the Union squad that won the MLS Supporters Shield in 2020 and competed in the CONCACAF Champions League the next season.
- With more than 50 appearances for the Union in all competitions, he scored 12 goals for the club.
European Experience: In 2022, Fontana made a move to Europe, spending time with Italian club Ascoli in Serie B and with Dutch club PEC Zwolle.
He then returned to the USL Championship last season, with the Colorado Springs Switchbacks, making 16 appearances.
Impact from Midfield: Fontana adds attacking quality to the Brooklyn midfield as well as creativity and an eye for goal.
