Brooklyn, NY. (August 19th, 2026) – Brooklyn FC Men are back at Maimonides Park this weekend, up against the defending USL Champion Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The match will be held on August 22 at 7:00 PM ET, streaming on Peacock.
Brooklyn’s previous meeting with Pittsburgh came on Independence Day, when BKFC earned a 2-0 win away from home. This was the first away win in men’s club history, as well as the last time the club won a match in the USL Championship. The team has been going through a difficult run of form, having lost three in a row. This represents an opportunity for Brooklyn to complete a league double over the Riverhounds, winning home and away against the same team.
Since the last matchup against Brooklyn, Pittsburgh has had an up and down run of form, but this has turned around recently. They have won two of their last three matches, including a 3-1 win against the Charleston Battery last weekend. Their two forwards, Albert Dikwa and Trevor Amann, have each scored six goals in the league and will be a dangerous duo for Brooklyn’s defence to handle. The club remains firmly in the hunt for one of the top seeds in the Eastern Conference and home-field advantage in the playoffs. Pittsburgh is one of the teams that concedes the fewest amount of goals in the Championship, averaging just 1.1 per game. It will be a physical challenge for Brooklyn as the Riverhounds look for revenge for the loss in July.
Brooklyn forward JC Obregon has the opportunity to make his 100th USL Championship appearance if he plays against the Riverhounds. He has become an important part of the Brooklyn lineup this year and scored the lone goal in the last match, a 2-1 loss away at the Las Vegas Lights. The team wanted to emphasize having a quick start to matches, and Obregon scored just four minutes into the previous game. This will also mark the return of Brooklyn captain Tommy McNamara to the midfield, after he was suspended against his former club in Las Vegas. Midfielder CJ Olney Jr, a standout this campaign, earned his sixth assist of the season for Obregon’s goal, which is tied for seventh-most assists in the Championship. Another potential milestone could be hit by veteran defender Thomas Vancaeyezeele in this match, as he is 34 minutes away from reaching 15,000 career minutes in the USL Championship. Vancaeyezeele has been another crucial and versatile member of the BKFC squad this year, putting in shifts as a center-back, full-back, and even in midfield.
Brooklyn FC Men’s next three matches are all against Florida teams in the USL Championship. They will play at home for the second week in a row as they take on Sporting JAX on August 29 at 7 PM ET. They will then play the Tampa Bay Rowdies away on September 5 before a home match against Miami FC on September 12. Tickets are available on SeatGeek.
