Brooklyn, NY. (August 12th, 2026) – Brooklyn FC Men head to the West Coast for the first time in their history for a late-night clash with the Las Vegas Lights. The match kicks off on August 15th at 10:30 PM ET, streaming on the CBS Sports Golazo Network.
Brooklyn come into this match with an extra week of rest after their home game against the Birmingham Legion had to be delayed due to travel issues. They will be hoping that the short break will help the team on the road before a busy end to the season. The team has put in numerous positive performances throughout this campaign, but the results have not always followed, so three points in this match could be vital.
Las Vegas sit in the last playoff spot in an extremely tight Western Conference, with the teams from second to eleventh separated by just 10 points. Currently in a positive run of form, the Lights are undefeated in their last five league matches. However, they have found more success on the road than at home, having won the last four away matches while not finding a victory at home since May 23. Vegas is a team that likes to control possession of the ball, averaging the eighth-highest possession percentage per match in the USL Championship. They also excel at moving the ball around the pitch, averaging the most accurate long balls per match in the league with 31.1 and the fifth-most accurate passes per match. Mexican midfielder Christian Pinzon will be really important in this match, as he has six assists this season, the second-most in the league. Forward Johnny Rodriguez has scored 10 goals in 19 matches, the third-most in the Championship. Despite the attacking firepower, Vegas’s defense can be leaky, conceding 27 goals this year and Brooklyn will look to take advantage of this.
Brooklyn are looking for a spark after two games without scoring a goal. In the previous two matches against San Antonio and Charleston, the team created multiple chances but were unable to put them away. Forward JC Obregon’s scoring run has come to an end recently but he will be looking to get back on the scoresheet and add to his four goals in all competitions this season. Given that the match against Birmingham was suspended, captain Tommy McNamara will miss this match after receiving a red card against Charleston. In midfield, Taimu Okiyoshi has been very consistent across the course of the season, providing valuable defensive work in recovering the ball. The wingers will be an important counter-attacking weapon when Brooklyn wins possession. Forward Stefan Stojanovic returns to Vegas after he spent the second half of the 2025 season with the Lights. He has scored four goals this season in 14 appearances and will be looking to prove a point against his former side. Midfielder CJ Olney Jr has been one of the mercurial players for Brooklyn, with the ability to change any match. He leads the team with four assists and 26 chances created.
