Kroeger previously played for her local USL W club, Morris Elite, earning a reputation as a regular contributor. While playing for Rutgers University, Kroeger reached the NCAA Division I women’s tournament Final Four and played with the national teams from Under-14 to U2-0 from 2015 to 2019. She made 61 appearances, all starts, with the Scarlet Knights. In her second season, Kroeger achieved a career-best with seven goals and five assists.
