TENGARRINHA’S VIEW
How important was this result, both in terms of points and restoring confidence within the group?
“Of course, this was a very important win for us. We needed it, no doubt about that. I think if you look at our performances, we were very strong in the first two matches after the break, but in the last couple we dropped below our standards, both in consistency and execution. So getting back to winning ways was crucial, not just for the points, but also for the belief inside the group. At the same time, we don’t want to get carried away. Our focus has to remain on a game-by-game approach, staying consistent in our process and continuing to build momentum step by step.”
What changed tactically or mentally that allowed the players to perform at this level and execute so effectively on both ends of the pitch?
“We’ve had a very challenging couple of weeks, with several external factors that were out of our control but clearly had an impact on the group. That’s not an excuse, but it’s part of the reality we’ve been dealing with. Today, we made a few adjustments, mainly to bring more balance and stability to the team, both with and without the ball. I think we looked more compact, more organized, and clearer in our roles. That gave the players more confidence in their decisions. Scoring first was also key. It always changes the emotional dynamic of the game and gave us a push in the right direction. From that moment on, you could see the team growing in confidence, managing the game better, and being more efficient in both phases. Overall, it was a more complete and controlled performance, and that’s the standard we need to build on moving forward.”

MATCH REACTIONS
Sam Kroeger, midfielder, #3
How would you assess your overall performance and your role within the team’s structure?
“Yeah I think our team structure was good tonight. We made key blocks/tackles when we needed them. Our lines were compact and when the momentum shifted to Tampa at times, we were patient. On the offensive side, we had a game plan and played what the game gave us. At times that needed to be short and other times long to push Tampa back a bit.
Overall, super proud of this group. We’ve been through a tough week on the road, but we all dug deep for this 90+ game. This result gives us the confidence boost needed for Carolina. We keep pushing one game at a time.”

Rebecca Cooke, forward, #10
What was working for you in the attacking phase, and how did you find those moments to be decisive?
“I think we played really well together in their half. We worked some really good chances and I am happy that they came off.”
How would you describe your mindset coming into this game and bouncing back in such a big way?
“Yes obviously it’s been a frustrating couple of games for me personally but also for us as a team but just always happy to contribute goals and assists when I can!”
